Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes, Lucid Cradle is currently accepting new clients. If you are interested in receiving services, please contact Jeanette using the Contact form on this site.

  • Psilocybin does not require a prescription. Oregon’s Psilocybin Program is an adult use model rather than a therapy. Therefore, these services are provided outside of the medical system.

Some health conditions like cardiovascular hypertension and schizophrenia will preclude a person from receiving psilocybin services.

  • Psilocybin has been found to have very low toxicity, which means that deaths by overdose have not been reported. However, persons with heart conditions are cautioned about potential adverse effects due to the increased strain on the heart during psilocybin administration. Additionally, persons who experience delusions or hallucinations or have been diagnosed as having bipolar depression, schizophrenia or other dissociative conditions are advised against using this medication at least until more clinical data becomes available. Persons who are treated with Lithium within three months of administration of psilocybin will not be able to receive services.

  • No, all psilocybin products must be purchased from a licensed psilocybin service center and consumed on site. While experiencing intoxicating effects of the medicine, the client has to remain on the premises of the service center and in the care of a facilitator. The length of time you will have to remain at the center depends at the minimum on the dosage you consumed and maximum based on the assessment of the facilitator.

  • No, all psilocybin products are strictly regulated from spore to consumption with requirements for growing and a mandate for laboratory testing before product may be sold to clients.

  • All products that do not get consumed on site will have to be properly disposed of by the service center staff. If some of the remaining psilocybin is still in its original packaging and has not been opened, the client will receive a full refund. If the remaining psilocybin is out of the packaging, it will be disposed of per regulation and no refund will be provided.

  • No psychoactive substances or nutritional supplements may be used at the center during the administration. Clients are expected to arrive to the session sober.

  • No, psilocybin services are not covered by health insurance.

Oregon’s Psilocybin Program is an adult use model rather than a therapy, and is not considered part of medical or therapeutic services by insurance carriers.

  • Anyone over the age of 21 is able to seek psilocybin services. Some medical and psychiatric diagnoses will disqualify a person from being able to try psilocybin services. Those conditions are associated with poor cardiovascular health (for example, hypertension) and experiences of psychosis or similar symptoms (for example, bi-polar depression and schizophrenia). Having taken Lithium within three months of the administration session excludes a person from being able to receive psilocybin treatment. Additionally, the client and facilitator must be able to establish necessary trust in their professional relationship before psilocybin administration.

  • You may bring food and beverages with you. Lucid Cradle will have some pantry items such as nut bars, apple sauce, cereal and tea, and some fresh fruit available. A fridge with a freezer, and a microwave are available at Lucid Cradle. With advance notice, special requests and take-out options are available.

Sometimes people experience an upset stomach and some nausea. Those effects wear off, and for many a preferred first meal after the administration session is often a vegetable soup or a sandwich.
